Teaching

In addition to research, I also teach university-level mathematics courses. This mainly involves preparing and delivering lectures and, in most cases, planning at least some of the course material itself.

  • Position: Module Organizer
  • Location: Queen Mary University of London
  • Semesters: Autumn 2024
  • 2024/25 course webpage (On QMPlus)

This is a first-year undergraduate module that introduces new students to university-level mathematics. The main aims of the module are to expose students to:

  • Rigorous mathematical reasoning (through logic and proofs).
  • The underlying language of mathematics (i.e., sets, relations, and functions).
  • The various number systems (e.g., natural numbers, integers, real and complex numbers) and their foundational properties.

Approximate list of topics covered:

  1. Formal (Boolean and deductive) logic
  2. Mathematical proofs
  3. Elementary set theory
  4. Natural numbers and induction
  5. Integers, divisibility, and fundamental theorem of arithmetic
  6. Rational and real numbers, suprema and infima
  7. Relations and functions
  8. Cardinality and combinatorics
  9. Complex numbers
